Landing a punch

Into the smirking face of temptation

Retreating with a bruised hand

Nursing waves of anger, irritation, frustration

Rooting from the fear of rejection

Mind haggling with resistance

Falling into the crests and troughs

Of elation and despair

Observing

Letting go

Abruptly sitting upright to grab onto the leash

Still not prepared to dissolve

Clinging to the ghosts of the past

Creating mirage for future

Tormenting the present

Attachment

Craving

The endless cycle of want

Reducing in intensity with each passing day

But the horizon of zen

Still evading me

Tantalizing me
