When your everyday living is decided by some stranger sitting far away from you…

We humans operate in our lives as if we are in control. From childhood it is taught to us that the more effort and planning we put into our lives, the better our living conditions and satisfaction levels will be. The truth is far from it.

We live in patriarchal governance arrangement. The federal central government decides the budget and policies for much of the health, education, agriculture, infrastructure and multiple other major facets of life. The states, districts and individuals are given minuscule agenda of Implementing those grand plans that someone else charts out for us. That someone could be an uneducated bigot who makes decisions to suit his/her immediate socio-political or economic interests. That someone could be a corrupt bureaucrat or an honest administrator with little intellectual rigor. For all you know they might be hardcore believers of fake news from WhatsApp university!

Still we continue to act in our daily lives as if we control the material things.

Alternately…

If we picture a life where we are truly the masters of our destinies then such a world would let us grow our own food, build our own social network not with strangers through transactional exchange of currency but through repeated exchange of favours and collective care. We would be closer to the nature, positioned to set the pace of our daily routines in a manner that suits our strengths and needs.
